Clarence Heinz paints what he experienced growing up in Charleston, South Carolina during Jim Crow, what he experienced as a Vietnam-era veteran, and what he experienced during his 32 years in prison.

Heinz taught himself to paint while in prison. He primarily uses oil, water color and acrylic in his quest to fill blank space on canvas. Today he lives in Winston Salem, North Carolina.
